Under Title 28, Section 534, of the
United States Code the FBI National Center for the Analysis of
Violent Crime would request information on violent crimes, victims,
and their offenders from criminal justice/law enforcement agencies
in order to classify, analyze, and preserve the records.
Comprehensive violent crime case information submitted to ViCAP by
law enforcement is maintained in the Congressionally mandated
respository (ViCAP Web National Crime Database) and is compared to
all other cases in the database to identify potentially related
cases.
