As described in the agency's supporting statement, the FTC has revised and reorganized its Information Collection List to better reflect the organization and requirements of the Rule. The Energy Labeling Rule has been amended several times since 2004, and many new information collections were added over that time including collections reflecting one-time burdens. In connection with this renewal, the FTC has consolidated and reorganized the Rule's information collections to reflect the structure of the Rule and its information collection burden in a clearer and more consistent manner by product category and burden type. Staff has also provided updated estimates based on industry data and input regarding the number of covered products and manufacturers and the time required to comply with the Rule's information collection requirements.
