SEARCH funds are used to make
predevelopment and planning grants to public or quasi-public
agencies, organizations operated on a not-for-profit basis or
Indian tribes on Federal and State reservations and other federally
recognized Indian tribes. The grant recipients use the grant funds
for feasibility studies, design assistance, and technical
assistance for direct loans, grants and guaranteed loans, to
financially distressed communities in rural areas with populations
of 2,500 or fewer inhabitants for water and waste disposal
projects.
This is an extension with a
revision of a previously approved information collection. There was
an decrease of 14 respondents from the previous collection of 125
respondents to 111 for this collection. The current burden hours
for this collection is 3,380 which is a decrease of 308 from 3,688
burden hours in the previous collection. The change is due to the
year to year program utilization fluctuation as well as the number
of qualified applications received furing the year. Additionally,
changes were needed for the forms used in calculations due to
changes in enabling legislature and procedures.
