The purpose of the collection of this information is to assist state and federal Natural Resource Trustees in more efficiently carrying out the restoration planning phase of Natural Resource Damage Assessments (NRDA). The restoration project information sheets will facilitate the collection of information by allowing respondents (individuals, not for profit organizations, businesses, state and federal government) to submit Project Information Sheets on a continual basis, thereby markedly shortening the time needed to generate a list of restoration alternatives following the release or substantial threat of release of oil. By reducing the time needed to conduct the restoration planning phase of a NRDA, the entire NRDA process becomes more efficient and habitat restoration projects will be implemented sooner for more benefit to the public and the environment.

A significant increase in the estimates of hours and burden is a result of the increase in the volume of projects we are funding which correlate with the number of submissions we are receiving. The program is expanding the amount of work it is doing which is directly correlated to the number of people necessary to keep the process running smoothly.
