The Voluntary Tanker Agreement is a
voluntary agreement. Respondents operate tankers in international
trade and provide the Maritime Administration with fleet inventory
information. The agency (Maritime Administration) uses the
information to monitor the adequacy of the number of tankers to
support deployment of U.S. military forces in defense or other
contingency operations.
