The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and the Department of Transportationâs National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) jointly administer the 911 Grant Program, funded by the NG911 Advancement Act to implement and improve 911 services, E-911 services, and NG911 services and applications. This information collection is used for state and tribal organization grant recipients to provide annual reports throughout the program.
US Code:
47 USC 942
Name of Law: NG911 Advancement Act of 2012
The decrease in burden is due to agency discretion. The previously-approved information collection allowed the use of both an application and an annual reporting instrument. Agencies now seek approval for a revised annual performance report instrument and the discontinuance of the application instrument. As of the date of this revision request, all grantees have been selected, making the application instrument no longer necessary for the information collection. The number of respondents have now been adjusted to reflect the 36 grantees that are required to submit the annual report instrument. The report has also been updated to clarify the requested information and to require program metrics.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that the collection of information encompassed by this request complies with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR 1320.8(b)(3).
The following is a summary of the topics, regarding the proposed collection of information, that the certification covers:
(i) Why the information is being collected;
(ii) Use of information;
(iii) Burden estimate;
(iv) Nature of response (voluntary, required for a benefit, or mandatory);
(v) Nature and extent of confidentiality; and
(vi) Need to display currently valid OMB control number;
If you are unable to certify compliance with any of these provisions, identify the item by leaving the box unchecked and explain the reason in the Supporting Statement.
