TITLE: EDUCATION BENEFIT ENTITLEMENT RESTORATION REQUEST DUE TO SCHOOL CLOSURES
VA requests OMB approval of an Emergency Request Submission for a Non-Substantive Revision to OMB control number 2900-0859, VA Form 22-0989 (Education Benefit Entitlement Restoration Request Due to School Closures).
This form has been revised to support Public Law (PL)116-140, which now allows for education benefit entitlement restoration for not just permanent school closures and withdrawal, but for temporary school closures and/or suspensions based on the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the form has been revised to include these two new categories, and, since they are effective retroactively to March 1, 2020, it is being submitted as an Emergency Approval Request. Additionally, the form is revised changing the name to—
“Education Benefit Entitlement Restoration Request Due To School Closure, Program Suspension or Withdrawal”.
PL 116-140 deals entirely with urgent matters resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The changes made to this form does not change the respondent burden.
