This information collection is
associated with the hydrostatic testing of portable fire
extinguishers. Persons performing the test are required to record
their name, the date of the test, and the identifier of the
extinguisher tested as evidence of completing the test.

OSHA is requesting an
adjustment decrease in the burden hours for the collections of
information in the Standard from 519,161 hours to 504,377 hours,
for a total adjustment decrease of 14,784 burden hours. The
decrease is primarily attributed to a drop of the number of
extinguishers estimated to be in use in the United States. There
was an increase in the total cost for employers to hydrostatically
test a portable fire extinguisher from $72,069,467 to $76,637,563
annually. The increase is due to an increase in the price to
perform the test.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
