In this survey, the term activationrefers to the involuntary or voluntary call to active duty in support of a declared national emergency (DNE) of a Reserve component or National Guard member under provision of 10 USC §12301(a) (Full Mobilization), 10 USC §12301(d) (Voluntary Active Duty if in support of a DNE), 10USC §12302 (Partial Mobilization), or 10 USC §12304 (Presidential Reserve Call-up), or 10 USC §12304a. It also applies to National Guard members who perform duties under 32 USC 502(f) for the purposes of supporting a DNE.
