National Fire
Department Registry









Formerly called the National Fire Department Census.
Established in 2001 by the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA).
Provides a current directory of registered fire departments.
Includes basic information, such as address, department
type, number of personnel, number of stations, etc.
The purpose of the registry is to create a national
database for use by the fire service and its stakeholders.
Over 27,000 fire departments are registered.

Update your department’s listing:

Visit the Change Listing webpage at https://apps.usfa.fema.
gov/registry/change

Select your fire department’s state location. Enter your fire
department’s National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS)
FDID number, and select Login.

Update your department’s information.

Click Next at the bottom of each page to review and update
all data.

Click Finish to submit the updated data to the USFA.

Be sure to include the department name, state location, and FDID
number (if known) in all inquiries.
