SUBJECT: Upcoming NISP PSI Data Collection to open March 8 to April 2 in the National Industrial Security System (NISS)


The Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) is responsible for projecting Personnel Security Investigations (PSI) requirements each year. The data collection for PSI projection requirements will be open from March 8, 2021 to April 2, 2021 through the National Industrial Security System (NISS) Submission Site. More information will be provided on March 5.

SUBJECT: NISP PSI Data Collection is open from March 8, 2021 through April 2, 2021 in the National Industrial Security System (NISS)


The Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) is responsible for projecting Personnel Security Investigations (PSI) requirements each year. The data collection for PSI projection requirements will be open from March 8, 2021 to April 2, 2021 through the National Industrial Security System (NISS) Submission Site. Annual projections acquired from Industry through this collection are the key component in Department of Defense program planning and budgeting for NISP security clearances.


In preparation for this upcoming data collection, please ensure that you register for your NISS account in order to participate in the data collection. Registration instructions are found on the NISS website under the Registration section (https://www.dcsa.mil/is/niss/).


If you already have established your NISS account, please log in to NISS to ensure you have access to any or all necessary CAGE codes for your facilities. You will need to request a separate NISS role for each CAGE code which you need to submit the PSI data collection. After logging into NISS, on the Dashboard, select “Click to Change Roles” on the blue bar. This will display all of your approved NISS roles and corresponding CAGE codes.


A PSI Job Aid is available on the NISS Dashboard (after you have logged in) to assist in completing the PSI projections.


ATTENTION: For Tier 5 Reinvestigations (T5R) projections please continue to use 6-year periodicity.

SUBJECT: REMINDER: NISP PSI Data Collection is Open in the National Industrial Security System (NISS)

The Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) conducts an annual data collection of all U.S. active cleared defense industry facilities for projected personnel security investigation (PSI) requirements for clearances as part of the Department of Defense (DoD) planning and budgeting process. The data collection of National Industrial Security Program (NISP) PSI projections is now open and can be accessed through the DCSA National Industrial Security System (NISS).

If you have already submitted your PSI projections, you may confirm the submission status by logging into NISS as the FSO/AFSO/Other Security Staff/KMP role. From the NISS Dashboard, hover over the light blue More tab, click PSI Survey, on the right bar click “PSI Submission Status.” This is where you can view the status of your survey. The status will be either Submitted or Draft.

To submit your projections, please log into the NISS Application. A PSI Job Aid is available on the NISS Dashboard (after you have logged in) to assist in completing the survey.
