The Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency deploys and analyzes an annual survey of defense industry for personnel security investigative requirements. This survey is critical to assist DoD in planning and requesting sufficient appropriations to ensure that industry personnel security clearance and investigative needs are met. Failure to obtain sufficient and accurate projections can adversely impact US military operations, US government procurement and NISP cleared defense industry.

Overall respondent burden has increased since the last approval despite a decrease in number of respondents. This is because response time has increased from 30 minutes to 40 minutes and the pay-rate associated with a GS-13 step 1 has also increased since the last approval. Total cost to the Federal government has decreased.
