The Department of Education (the Department) is requesting an extension without change of the current record keeping information collection. Due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic the Department lacks sufficient data to allow for more accurate updates to the usage of the form. There has been no change in either the statute as provided by the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended (HEA) or in the regulations. The regulations identify the requirements under which an institution must readmit servicemembers with the same academic status they held at the institution when they last attended (or were accepted for attendance). The regulations require institutions to charge readmitted servicemembers, for the first academic year of their return, the same institutional charges they were charged for the academic year during which they left the institution (see section 484C of the HEA).
US Code:
20 USC 1088
Name of Law: Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended
