pdfNCI Worskhop on Rational Drug Discovery (October 18-19, 2021)
While the last 20 years have given witness to the discovery of targeted cancer drugs offering
new hope to patients, there remains a need for improving effectiveness. To better understand
the rapidly evolving scientific and technological advancements that are shaping cancer drug
discovery, the NCI is holding a workshop on Rational Drug Discovery to engage in an interactive
dialogue with extramural researchers who are focused in areas that are foreseen to be driving
the discovery of the next generation of improved cancer drugs.
This virtual meeting (Oct 18 and 19, 2021) will review latest developments in the fields of
structural biology, chemical biology and novel modalities, target interrogation, and artificial
intelligence (AI) in drug discovery. The goal of the meeting is to identify knowledge gaps,
resource needs, and critical barriers in the field, providing the basis for NCI to better support
the extramural community and accelerate progress toward the treatment of cancer.
