Coal mine operators are required to
conduct inspections of slope and shaft areas of hazardous
conditions, including tests for methane and oxygen deficiency,
before and during each shift and before and after blasting. Records
of the results of the inspections are required to be kept.

There has been a decrease in
respondents which has in turn resulted in a decrease in responses
and hours. Respondents: Decreased from 19 to 15, primarily due to
the closing of coal mines. Responses: Decreased from 8,360 to
6,600, primarily due to the decline in respondents. Hours:
Decreased from 10,450 to 8,250, primarily due to the decline in
respondents. Cost: Remained at $0.
