1.) Logging in
Login instructions have been sent to you. Please reach out to Palantir for support regarding DIS access.
Login at: https://dis.aphis.usda.gov
Note: For login support contact: [email protected]

2.) Home page
When you log into DIS, the home page you see will be tailored to your role and state. The home page will link to applications in
the platform, documentation, and forms that are most helpful for you. Below is an example landing page for a generic
"example" State:

3.) Navigating to Object Explorer
Object Explorer is the application within DIS that you'll use to search for records and data. You are able to navigate to Object
Explorer by:
1. Using the link from the homepage, or
2. Navigating to the black sidebar on the le hand side of the screen and selecting "Object Explorer" (to open the black
sidebar, click the icon with three bars at the top of the black sidebar)

4.) Searching for records
To begin a search when you have a tag or another identifier, use the search bar to type in that identifier and press enter. DIS also
allows for wildcard searches using % and searching for many tags at one time that can be separated by commas or spaces.
Below is a screenshot of Object Explorer; you may see different tiles or numbers of records based on your access and
preferences.

Below is an example of a search result a er searching for a single 840 tag. DIS links data from all the different source systems
together, so users are able to see information on an Animal, all the Premises it is associated with, all the Animal Health Events it
has been in, and any other records associated with that Animal - all in one search. Below is more information on the different
parts of the search results page:
(1) All results: The le hand side shows all search results for this tag. It shows the tag searched is linked to 1 Animal Identifier, 1
Animal, and 2 Animal Health Events.
(2) Animal Identifier (Tag): The search is linked to 1 Animal Identifier. Click that box to get more details on the Animal
Identifier.
(3) Animal: The search is linked to 1 Animal. Click that box to get more details on the Animal.
(4) General Animal Health Event: The search is linked to 2 Animal Health Events. Click into either box to learn more about
those events.

Alternatively, if you don't have an identifier to begin your search or want to look into aggregate data, you can click directly into a
data tile from Object Explorer:

Below is the search results view a er clicking into the Animal Identifier tile. Here you can see aggregate views of all the Animal
Identifier records that you have access to. You are able to filter into individual charts on this page, click into individual tags, and
build other chart views.
(1) Source Systems: You are able to click into the data on charts, so in this example "AIMS", and apply the filter, and the
search results will update with only Animal Identifiers that have data from AIMS. This applies to all charts on this page.
(2) View Results: When you click into a tile you will see this chart view, but you can also click "Results" or "View all results" to
see a list of all search results. In this case, you would see a list of all Animal Identifiers that you have access to.

Below is a screenshot of the "View all results" and "Results" page (both navigate you to the same page). Here you can click on
individual Animal Identifiers to learn more.

In addition to filtering through the chart views, you are also able to search on specific properties by clicking into the search bar.
The screenshot below shows a user who has clicked into the search bar, selected "Product Code", and has the option to type in a
search value or select some of the checkboxes to continue filtering down the search results.

Note: The last section provided details on how to search for the records and data you are looking for. The following sections
provide overviews of the specific objects that are most relevant for users performing AHER searches.

5.) Animal Identifier (Tags)
Animal Identifiers (Tags) provide details at the tag level - this includes device type and product information, but also includes
the Animal that the tag is linked to, any AHER events, and information on all Premises the tag has been to over its lifetime.
Below is an example tag:

6.) Animals
Animals provide a comphrensive view of all data on a particular Animal. This includes both data about the Animal - DOB, Breed,
Species, etc., and also all linked tags, premises, etc. to that Animal. The example Animal below has 2 tags, been in 11 different
AHER events, and has been recorded at Premises in a few states over its lifetime:

7.) Premises

8.) Animal Health Events
Animal Health Events are configured in two different ways in DIS:
(1) General Animal Health Events provide very basic information about an event that is visible to all AHER DIS users. These
are represented by yellow icons. If you have access (i.e. if an event occurred in your state), than you will also see another green
icon that provides more details about that event.

(2) Detailed Animal Health Events provide more context and other linked entities for an AHER event. For the example below,
a user will learn that this Sighting Event was specifically an Animal Registration, and will be able to click into the Premises and
other Animals in the event.
