Abstract: The study is a pilot program to determine best methods for estimating the number of individuals living with mental and substance use disorders, especially those of the greatest severity. The primary goal of the MDPS is to examine methods to provide unbiased and precise national prevalence estimates of schizophrenia/schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, major depression, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and alcohol, benzodiazepine, opioid, stimulant, and cannabis use disorders among U.S. adults ages 18 to 65.
