FOLLOW UP PHONE SCREENER

TITLE OF INFORMATION COLLECTION: FDA CTP 2021 Educational Outreach Focus Groups with Health Educators

FOLLOW-UP PHONE SCREENER (conducted by the research participant vendor with a subset of potential candidates)

Introduction

Hello, my name is _______________ and I’m calling from _________________about an upcoming project sponsored by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Center for Tobacco Products (CTP).

We want to talk with health education teachers/educators across the United States about their experiences teaching health education and tobacco and vaping prevention. Specifically, this study will use health education teachers’ suggestions to develop effective skills-based health education lessons on tobacco and vaping prevention for middle school and high school students.

We will be conducting online focus groups on Zoom and each focus group discussion session will last approximately 90 minutes. To maintain participants’ privacy, we will use first names only (no last names) during the discussions and your name or personal information will not be used in any project materials. This study is covered by a special protection called a Certificate of Confidentiality from the FDA. This special protection ensures that the information you provide will be kept private and secure to the extent permitted by law.

During the discussion we will ask that you turn your video camera on so that you can see the moderator and the other up to 5 participants in the focus group. We are very interested in your feedback and opinions: there are no wrong answers to any of the questions that will be asked in the focus group.

As a thank you for participating in the focus group, we will offer you a token of appreciation in the form of a $40 Visa gift card. To see if you qualify to participate, I need to ask you a few questions. These questions will take about 5 minutes.
