HUD requires the builder to provide
information that notes an adverse site/location factor(s) on the
property, including floodplains. Lenders review the form and send
it to HUD. This is done so that HUD does not insure a mortgage on
property that poses a risk to health or safety of the
occupant.
This renewal is an revision of
a currently approved package which does not reflect any program
changes. The public burden was adjusted upwards due to the growing
number of new homes in the U.S. and FHA’s increasing market share.
According to U.S. Census data, new homes were reported as 617,000
in 2018, 683,000 in 2019, and 822,000 in 2020. FHA market share was
reported as 11.99 % in 2018, 17.42% in 2019, and 18.59% in
2020.
