The course FP130 U.S. Government and Constitutional Development is part of the core curriculum for
all midshipmen 4th class. It includes unique material about the ethics of public service and develops
academic research skills. For most students, the content studied and techniques acquired are keys to
success at USNA. Consequently, validation may not be the best course of action.
There is no validation examination for FP130. Validation is granted only to midshipmen who have had an
AP course in American Government that included study in the ethics of public service together with
substantive academic research experience.
