Preparing for Science-Based Non-Traditional Careers

REGISTER TODAY!
The Preparing for Science-Based Non-Traditional Careers (PSNC) workshops will start on
Wednesday, February 16, 2023.  The PSNC workshops are aimed to help participants learn
about the various career opportunities that lie outside of independent academic research. As
fellows and staff scientists at the NCI, many of you will be exploring and choosing from various
science-based career options in the future. Given these may include unfamiliar roles outside of
traditional bench science, we have invited guest speakers from various science-based
backgrounds to provide information and insight that will help inform decisions about potential
future endeavors.

The workshop will be held on Wednesdays at 3:00 p.m. from February 16 to May 4, 2023. The
presentations will be held virtually via WebEX.

Please register by March 16, 2023.   Please see course schedule and registration details by
visiting the PSNC program website.

Scientific Management Training (SMT)
June 24, 2023 from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m.
The SMT course focuses on personnel and project management. While outstanding scientific
research is conducted at NCI, many of the scientists who go on to lead their own laboratories have
few managerial skills. The goal of the SMT course is to develop the skills needed to successfully
lead a scientific research laboratory.
Location: This virtual 3 hour course will be offered by WebEx on June 24, 2023 from 2:00 - 5:00
p.m.
The registration limit is 100 and registration will close on June 17, 2023.
