NSF plans to contract with a cloud services reseller for cloud services from Amazon Web
Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform. The multi-cloud contract will provide NSF
with compute, storage and networking services in the cloud under a pay as you go model.
An architecture model that combines wide-area networking (WAN) tools with security tools over
a cloud service directly to the source of connection (NSF). This will eliminate the need to house
the hardware and software in the NSF Data Center and instead the system can be managed
from an integrated console. NSF is looking to purchase this type of cloud-based product which
must be compatible with our Cisco devices. The end goal will be to select a final product and
rollout the SASE across the Foundation upon completion of the pilot.
NSF plans to purchase and install new blade servers to replace our end of life servers. The
replacement servers will be used to host virtual machines for databases and Commercial Off the
Shelf Applications.
NSF plans to purchase new equipment for conducting hybrid meetings in physical conference
rooms. Equipment may include voice tracking or presence indicator technology to enhance the
hybrid meeting experience for those not physically present in the conference room.

Data Analytics effort
Dimensions/Altmetric renewal
Tag along OIA/EAC IDIQ D&A contract to get D&A support.Data analytics are crucial to decisionmaking at NSF. NSF is building a strong data analytic capacity within each of its directorates by
hiring Data Analytic Officers (DAO) to coordinate data analytic efforts both within and across
directorates. NSF seeks skilled contractor support in data and analytics to support DAOs, to
address their directorate needs as well as work across directorates to ensure the dissemination
of common data analytic practices.
Continue the support of the Dimensions/Altmetric, FY23 will be the optional year 2 of a threeyear period. Tentatively put it in TIP/OAD, but ideally, will be picked up by NSF central fund.
Dimensions by DSRSI is the only extant product currently available that offers integrated
databases of research grants, publications, citations, and patents that cover a broad landscape
from both national and international major research resources. This unique database coupled
with integrated user training has enabled NSF staff to perform holistic and cutting-edge research
analyses and to facilitate a variety of mission support actions, including, but not limited to, the
recruitment of experts for review panels that have not previously engaged with NSF. Since it was
first introduced to NSF on 9/15/2021, the user base has grown to 340 across all directorates and
offices in this past year.
NSF proposes expanding the current Convergence Accelerator program from a single program
to a national-level program by creating 10 regional Convergence Accelerator consortia, also
known as Convergence Accelerator Anchors, across the nation. By expanding the Convergence
Accelerator program nationally, it expands NSF’s reach and enables more researchers,
innovators and organizations – from academia, industry, nonprofit, government, and other
communities of practice – to engage in the Convergence Accelerator program. To begin the
Convergence Accelerator Market Intelligence implementation of the 10 regions, NSF must conduct market intelligence to identify
organizations, per region, that would be a potential fit to apply to be the Anchor.
Events
NSF will attempt to identify, in each region, potentially interested organizations by using all tools
at its disposal. This may include using available government databases, examining current lists
of government consortia, FFRDC, and contract holders, and using publicly posted requests for
information. NSF will conduct these efforts, especially in underserved regions, with an eye
towards identifying organizations that do not typically work with NSF.
