Abstract: the Steel Import Monitoring and Analysis (SIMA) System is vital to facilitate the real-time monitoring of steel imports in a volatile market. This is a continuation of the licensing and monitoring system which began as part of the 201 steel safeguards. Extension of the SIMA system has been expanded to over all steel mill products. SIMA is operating under authority as part of the Census Act (13 U.S.C. 301(a) and 302).

Rather, changes to the total burden hours are based on a review of the number of licenses completed since the last renewal period. This updated information was used to derive annualized estimates, and the annualized estimates were used to calculate an updated estimate of total burden hours. The form requirements, and the estimated form completion time, are unchanged since the last renewal.
