Section 517(d) of title V of the
Housing Act of 1949, as amended, provides the authority for the
Secretary of Agriculture to issue loan guarantees for the
acquisition of new or existing dwellings and related facilities to
provide decent, safe, and sanitary living conditions and other
structures in rural areas.

There is an estimated decrease
of 398,439 responses and 463,951 burden hours since the last
submission. Any change in hours is a result of decreased demand by
the public due to rising interest rates and lack of available
affordable housing. Also considered is that the previous cycle
included record low interest rates which attributed to a marked
increase in refinance activity. Integration of the SFHGLP into the
National model was necessary to provide lenders improved customer
service, as well as consistent turn times and policy
interpretation.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
