Abstract: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), along with Guidelines International Network (GIN), which sponsored the human-centered design (HCD) effort, needed to understand pain points in guideline development and implementation that need to be solved to bring guidelines to the digital age using technological advances. The “Bringing Guidelines to the Digital Age” effort seeks to solve pain points, problems that occur at different levels of the customer experience, in guideline development and implementation using HCD. The various customers (i.e., different perspectives) in guideline development and implementation need to be asked about their experiences to identify the pain points in leveraging technology to improve patient care.
