General Comment
This comment is related to the FNS-153 monthly report for CSFP. The Michigan Department of
Education recommends this report be changed from monthly to quarterly. 7 CFR Part 247.29 states the
FNS-153 is a monthly report but “FNS may permit the data contained to be submitted less frequently."
CSFP participation can be reported by quarters and averaged out per quarter due to double distribution.
Pre-packed boxes are burdensome for agencies to track between months. Leftover boxes need to be
accounted for in ending inventory but would be distributed within the next month. Quarterly reporting
would save local agencies and warehouses time. Many of Michigan's local agencies are smaller and do
not have software systems. The inventory tracking is done manually.
