The standard requires employers to monitor employee exposure to acrylonitrile (AN), to provide medical surveillance, to train workers about the hazards of AN, and to establish and maintain accurate records of worker exposure to AN. These records are used by employers, workers, physicians, and the Government to ensure that workers are not harmed by exposure to AN.

The agency is requesting an adjustment decrease of 3,333 burden hours (from 14,706 hours to 11,373 hours). The decrease in burden is due to a decrease in the number of employees and the number of establishments. In addition, the estimated capital cost to employers decreased from $1,164,653 to $930,142, a total decrease of $234,511. This decrease is due to a decrease in the number of workers being sampled and receiving medical exams.
