The information collection is part of
a joint effort between the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and
the U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD), to maintain a working
data set on active U.S. Shipyards. The information collected is
critical in providing both organizations with a comprehensive list
of U.S. commercial shipyards and their capabilities and
capacities.
OIRA authorizes any Agency to begin using a Common
Form associated with this ICR automatically after 5 calendar days
from the date the agency's RCF including the common form was
received in OIRA.
Because this survey of privately-owned
shipyards is a joint effort of the Department of Transportation and
Department of Defense, it is appropriate to utilize a Standard Form
to collect he necessary information. This extension request does
not propose any changes to the Common Form usage established in the
previously approved request.
