The Head Start Grant Application collects information from all Head Start and Early Head Start grant recipients for Head Start funding including program budgets and narratives. The information is collected on an annual basis when grant recipients apply for their annual funding. Prior to receiving annual Head Start federal funds, Head Start grant recipients must complete a grant application package which includes Head Start Grant Application tabs in the Head Start Enterprise System (HSES), an application and budget justification narrative, and upload other applicable documents. The Office of Head Start has identified nonsubstantive changes to the Head Start Grant Application to provide clarifications; ensure alignment with ACF-IM-HS-22-09 Enrollment Reductions and Conversion of Head Start Slots to Early Head Start Slots; and provide additional descriptions, tips, and reminders to improve the overall quality of applications. ACF has implemented changes in response to recent presidential actions.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that the collection of information encompassed by this request complies with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR 1320.8(b)(3).
The following is a summary of the topics, regarding the proposed collection of information, that the certification covers:
(i) Why the information is being collected;
(ii) Use of information;
(iii) Burden estimate;
(iv) Nature of response (voluntary, required for a benefit, or mandatory);
(v) Nature and extent of confidentiality; and
(vi) Need to display currently valid OMB control number;
If you are unable to certify compliance with any of these provisions, identify the item by leaving the box unchecked and explain the reason in the Supporting Statement.
