The data collected will be used for the application of individual workers to retain a TWIC credential for security identification purposes. The data will be collected and a Security Threat Assessment will be conducted on the individual with outreach too appropriate agency databases. When the individual is cleared they will be provided a credential containing information for identification verification at either maritime facilities or vessel locations. This has been required by the MTSA Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002.
On January 1, 2025, the FBI reduced the CHRC fee from $11.25 to $10.00, impacting the new and renewal enrollment fees. In addition, the annual respondents decreased from 741,518 to 705,039, because the responses to the enrollment customer and the card issuance process surveys decreased. Further, the annual time burden increased from 430,317 to 510,471 hours due to an increase in enrollments, renewals, replacement card and appeals. The burden was also impacted by a decrease in the in-person card pick up, because TSA has increased the mailing of cards to respondents reducing in-person pick up.
