APPROACH

CHANNELS

GAUGE INTEREST
Via informal channels

Informal Channels

Aim to recruit full set of participants via informal channels

Spouses

1. Advertise opportunity to participate in
discussions via informal channels and
request completion of a short interest form;
aim to slightly over-recruit (35 – 40) to plan
for fallout during scheduling phase.
2. Aim to recruit the necessary representation
via informal methods before resorting to
more formal social media channels and
MSO/VSO/MSEP partners

Social Media

If the desired grouping of participants is unattainable via informal channels, leverage social
media groups to continue recruitment

SCHEDULE SESSIONS
Via email and scheduling tools

Employers

3. Send a Calendly to 1:1 discussion
participants via email and request they
choose one time slot – sessions will be autoscheduled

MSO/VSO/MSEP Partners

If the desired grouping of participants is unattainable via both informal channels and social
media groups, reach out to MSO/VSO/MSEP Partners to support with outreach

MSEP Partners
Reach out to MSEP partners via existing channels and request participation.
Coordinate scheduling through preferred scheduling tool.

Non-MSEP Partners
Deloitte: Crosswalk MSEP partners with Deloitte alliances; Pinpoint alliance
partners not currently MSEP partners and conduct targeted outreach
Spouse Employment Team: Leverage SHRM channels

OUTREACH PLAN

Primary Communication for Employers
Communication for MSEP Partners

Communication for Non-MSEP Partners

Hello,

Hello,

The Department of War’s Office of Spouse Employment is searching
for current MSEP partners to participate in conversations about the
employer experience when hiring military spouses.

The Department of War’s Office of Spouse Employment would like
to connect with employers who are not currently involved in The
Department of War’s military spouse employment initiatives.

Areas of interest include:
• Current practices to support military spouses
• Benefits and drawbacks of employing military spouses
• Lessons learned as an MSEP partner

As part of a larger research initiative, we are conducting discussions
to understand employer motivation to support military spouse
employment opportunities and current talent
recruiting/management efforts.

These discussions will be used to identify potential opportunities
for reducing spouse unemployment rates and ensuring more
successful outcomes for spouses who do obtain employment.

Participation in these discussions is not a commitment to join the
Department of War’s military spouse employment initiatives– these
insights will be used to better understand the circumstances
military spouses may face in the workforce.

If your company is interested in participating, please respond to
this message and include any representatives who should be
included in the discussion.
We appreciate any feedback you are willing to provide to support
our research efforts.
