The American Relief Act, 2025 provides
$250 million in supplemental Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF)
funding for necessary expenses directly related to the consequences
of major disasters and emergencies declared pursuant to the Robert
T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act (42 U.S.C.
5121 et seq.) occurring in 2023 and 2024. The Administration for
Children and Families (ACF) determined that these funds will be
used for child care recovery grants to state, territory, and Tribal
Lead Agencies administering the CCDF program in areas affected by
those disasters and emergencies. ACF is required to distribute the
child care disaster supplemental funding to eligible states,
territories, and Tribes based on assessed need, notwithstanding the
allotment formula set forth in the CCDBG Act. This information
collection is necessary to solicit applications from eligible
jurisdictions that describe the need for funding to address impacts
of the disasters or emergencies. The Office of Child Care (OCC)
plans to distribute the funds by the end of Federal Fiscal Year
2025 so that impacted jurisdictions can begin the process of
rebuilding child care.
