The Department of Defense (DoD) uses the government-wide Research Performance Progress Report (RPPR) format to collect interim and annual performance information from recipients of DoD-funded research grants and cooperative agreements. The RPPR structure, developed by the National Science and Technology Council and adopted pursuant to OMB guidance, standardizes reporting across agencies and satisfies performance reporting requirements under 2 CFR 200.329. DoD components apply the RPPR to assess progress toward technical objectives, document research outputs, monitor compliance, and support oversight of federally funded research activities. While DoD agencies may include limited, program-specific instructions or addenda, the core RPPR elements are retained.
