Short Statement: In 2022, the Department estimated that there would be 124,441 responses, resulting in 123,514 burden hours. The current package estimates 128,648 responses, resulting in 127,607 burden hours. However, the overall burden cost has increased from $2,860,584 to $6,348,448.25. The reason for this increase is primarily due to the fact that the Department now factors in benefit and overheard costs into wage calculations, and coupled with the increase in base wages, the number of responses and burden hours, the result was a significant increase in burden costs.
