Abstract: The owners of U.S. documented vessels must obtain approval from MARAD prior to transfer of such vessels to foreign registry. These forms are used by the owners to obtain the required approval. The information will be used on occasion by MARAD when there is a prospective foreign transfer of a U.S.-flag vessel. As such, this information will assist in the determination as to whether the vessel proposed for transfer will initially require retention under the U.S.-flag statutory regulations.
