Form 5498 is used by trustees and issuers to report contributions to, and the fair market value of, an individual retirement arrangement. The information on the form will be used by IRS to verify compliance with reporting rules under regulation section 1.408-5 and to verify that the participant of the IRA has made the contribution for which he or she is taking the deduction.
Form 5498-TA, Trump Account Contribution Information, is used to comply with the requirements set forth in P.L. 119-21, Sec.70204 and IRC Section 530A(i) which established Trump Accounts and contribution pilot programs. Form 5498-TA reports contributions, rollovers, basis or investment in the contract, and the fair market value (FMV) of the account for the calendar year shown on the form and is furnished by the trustee of the Trump account.
Adjustment: For Form 5498, the estimated number of filers increased by 11,690,467, based on updated IRS filing projections. This resulted in an increase of 4,793,091 burden hours.
Program Change: This submission adds Form 5498-TA, to the existing information collection under OMB Control Number 1545-0747 to implement the reporting requirements established by Public Law 119-21, section 70204, and IRC section 530A(i). This addition contributes 45,000,000 respondents and 7,650,000 annual burden hours.
