Abstract: On September 4, 2020, the Commission issued a Report and Order, FCC 20-124, CS Docket No. 97-80, MB Docket No. 16-42, that eliminated certain outdated support and consumer notification information collection requirements. These notification information collection requirements were contained in 47 CFR 76.1205(b)(1), (b)(1)(A) and (b)(2) and (b)(5). The Commission also eliminated a requirement that cable operators report to the Commission about the status of CableCARD deployment and support. The Commission concluded that those information collections were no longer necessary to achieve Section 629 of the Communication Act’s directive to assure a retail market for navigation devices, such as set-top boxes, that can access cable services.
