In CC Docket No. 96-187, the Commission adopted measures to streamline tariff filing requirements for local exchange carriers (LECs) pursuant to the Telecommunications Act of 1996. In order to achieve a streamlined and deregulatory environment for local exchange carrier tariff filings, local exchange carriers are required to file tariffs electronically.
The Commission notes the following adjustments since the last submission to OMB:
The total annual responses decreased from 1,536 to 1,520 (-16) and the total annual burden hours decreased from 4,054 to 4,006 (-48).
Although, the Commission revised the filing fees, increasing the Complex Tariff Filing (Large) fee from $7,300 to $7,680, and increasing the Complex Tariff Filing (Small) fee from $3,650 to $3,840. Not every tariff filing requires a tariff filing fee; for example, complete base tariffs consolidating the previous monthâs tariff revisions into the complete base tariff do not require a tariff filing fee. The estimate of the volume of Standard Tariff Filings decreased from approximately 300 filings to approximately 150 filings and, as a result, the total annualized operation and maintenance costs have decreased from $611,800 to $471,000 (-$140,800).
There are no program changes.
