Abstract: The grants and agreements awarded under this announcement will support the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, 2021. Section 40804(b)3 directs the USDA Forest Service Forest Service to provide financial assistance to an entity seeking to establish, reopen, expand, or improve a sawmill or other wood processing facility in close proximity to a unit of federal or Indian land that has been identified as high or very high priority for ecological restoration. Eligible applicants are for-profit entities; state, local governments; Indian Tribes; school districts; community, not-for-profit organizations; institutions of higher education; and special purpose districts (e.g., public utilities districts, fire districts, conservation districts, and ports).

Short Statement: Minor changes were made to FS-1500-0049 based on utilizing grants.gov and eliminating several unnecessary forms during the application process. These included removing the footnote at the bottom of page 2, updating the link to a map, and updating Appendix 3. More details are available in the supplementary document titled, "Minor Changes to form FS-1550-0049." Also, per hour rates were adjusted to current rates.
