Non-substantive Change Request Agency: Department of Transportation – Federal Aviation Administration OMB Control Number: 2120-0770 ICR Title: Alternative Pilot Physical Examination and Education Requirements (BasicMed) Date Submitted: October 1, 2026 Summary of request: The FAA is submitting this non-substantive change request to update the instructions for the Comprehensive Medical Examination Checklist (BasicMed) with statutory mandates and conforming final rules. Specifically, Section 828 of the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024 and the subsequent FAA Conforming Final Rule, "Regulatory Updates to BasicMed" (89 FR 90571), amended 14 CFR Part 61 and 14 CFR Part 68. These amendments expanded BasicMed privileges by increasing the maximum certificated takeoff weight of a covered aircraft from 6,000 pounds to 12,500 pounds and increasing the allowable number of occupants from 6 to 7. This update modifies only the text within the instruction section of the checklist to reflect these updated thresholds. This change does not alter the form fields, the information collected, the burden hours per respondent, the total burden, the collection methodology, or the size or scope of the respondent universe. A redline and clean version of the instructions demonstrating the changes have been uploaded to the IC section of the ROCIS package.
