Minimum Data Elements for the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program

The CDC-funded National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (NBCCEDP) is the largest organized cancer screening program in the United States, providing critical breast and cervical cancer screening services to underserved women. CDC proposes to continue the collection of performance indicator information from NBCCEDP grantees. The information supports program planning, evaluation, and research. CDC proposes a revision to the MDEs to include removal of several data variables that are no longer relevant for CDC analyses, as well as collapsing/revising several data variables to reduce burden and increase clarity for respondents. Together, the proposed revisions are expected to increase efficiency of MDE data reporting by limiting data variables to only those that are critical to adequately monitor program performance and evaluate processes and outcomes of interest. In addition, this revision will reduce burden by eliminating data variables no longer needed by CDC.
