Highway Safety Improvement Programs
OMB 2125-0025 · DOT/FHWA.
The information collection request would revise the currently approved information collection under “Highway Safety Improvement Programs” (OMB Approval Number 2125-0025). The purpose of collection is to reduce fatalities and serious injuries on all public roads, including non-state owned roads and roads on tribal land. Collection is required for State Departments of Transportation to annually produce and submit to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) reports on the effectiveness of the projects implemented in reducing fatalities and serious injuries on all public roads [Highway Safety Improvement Program Report--Sections 148(h)], and the progress being made to implement the Railway-Highway Crossings Program and the effectiveness of these projects in that program [Sections 130(g) and 148(h)]. The FHWA will use the information to evaluate the above programs from a national perspective and may be used by the Congress for modifying this program and determining future funding levels. Information that is collected supports the Safety Strategic Goal in the Department of Transportation’s 2022-2026 Strategic Plan and National Roadway Safety Strategy. Reports will be posted on a Department of Transportation website as required by BIL. The requested revision continues the currently approved information collection.
