Abstract: THE ADVANCE MONTHLY RETAIL TRADE REPORT IF FOR THE PURPOSE OF COLLECTING AND TABULATING ESTIMATED DOLLAR VOLUME SALES OF RETAIL SALES. THE MONTH-TO-MONTH AND YEAR-TO-YEAR CHANGES PUBLISHED BY THE BUREAU OF THE CENSUS APPROXIMATELY 10 DAYS AFTER THE END OF THE MONTH ARE WIDELY USED BY GOVERNMENT AND PRIVATE AGENCIES AS THE EARLIEST INDICATOR OF CHANGES IN RETAIL SALES AT UNITED STATES LEVELS.
