Abstract: COTTON STANDARDS ACT (7 U.S.C. 51 ET SEQ.) DIRECTS AND AUTHORIZES USDA TO SUPERVISE THE VARIOUS ACTIVITIES DIRECTLY ASSOCIATED WITH THE CLASSIFICATION OR GRADING OF COTTON BASED ON OFFICIAL USDA STANDARDS. CLASSIFICATION SERVICE IS AVAILABLE TO ANY COTTON OWNER ON A FEE BASIS. APPLICATION ASCERTAINS PROPER OWNERSHIP, DISTRIBUTION CLASSIFICATION RESULTS AND BILL FOR SERVICE.
