Abstract: THE INVENTORY MAINTAINS AN ONGOING UNIVERSE OF PSYCHIATRIC MODALTIES IN GENERAL HOSPITALS, TO SERVE AS A SAMPLING FRAM AND TO PROVIDE SOME BASIC DESCRIPTIVE DATA ON THE NUMBER OF SUCH PROGRAMS, STAFFING AND CASE LOAD PATTERNS AND EXPENDITURES ASSOCIATED WITH THE PROVISION OF SERVICES. SUCH INFORMATION IS CRITICAL TO MONITORING DEVELOPMENT IN SPECIALITY M.H. SECTOR AND MONITORING PROGRESS TOWARD NATIONAL MH GOALS
