Abstract: TO COLLECT DATA NECESSARY FOR PUBLISHING QUARTERLY SUMMARY REPORTS ON THE NUMBER OF PERSONS CONFINED IN THE NATION'S CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTIONS. THESE DATA WILL BE THE ONLY SOURCE AVAILABLE ON THE NATION'S PRISON POPULATION AND WILL ALLOW PLANNERS AND POLICYMAKERS TO TRACK THE INCREASING PRISON POPULATION ON A MORE FREQUENT BASIS.
