Abstract: NCES WAS MANDATED BY P.L. 93-380 TO "ASSIST STATE AND LOCAL EDUCATIONAL AGENCIES IN IMPROVING AND AUTOMATING THEIR STATISTICAL AND DATA COLLECTION ACTIVITIES". AS PART OF ITS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM, NCES HAS ESTABLISHED A STATE-LEVEL PERSONNEL EXCHANGE TO FACILITATE THE THE INTERCHANGE OF INFORMATION AND EXPERTISE AMONG STATES.
