Abstract: THE SURVEY REPORTS ARE USED IN PREPARING ESTIMATES OF ACTUAL AND PLANNED INVESTMENT IN NEW STRUCTURES AND EQUIPMENT FOR NONAGRICULTURAL BUSINESS. THEY ALSO PROVIDE ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT ECONOMIC INDICATORS USED BY BUSINESS AND PUBLIC OFFICIALS INCLUDING THE COUNCIL OF ECONOMIC ADVISERS, THE TREASURY DEPARTMENT, AND THE FEDERAL RESERVE BOARD.
