SUBCHAPTER J PROVIDES THE STANDARDS AND REQUIREMENTS FOR REVIEW OF ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS ON U. S. COAST GUARD CERTIFICATED VESSELS. THE COAST GUARD MUST REVIEW THESE PLANS TO DETERMINE COMPLIANCE. THIS IS DONE TO PROMOTE THE PUBLIC SAFETY OF LIFE AT SEA. THE PUBLIC AFFECTED BY THIS REGULATION ARE SHIPYARDS AND NAVAL ARCHITECTS.
