REQUEST ALLOWS THE COMMISSION TO EFFECTIVELY EVALUATE THE ADEQUACY
OF THE POLICING SYSTEM EMPLOYED BY STEAMSHIP AND OFFSHORE
CONFERENCE WITH RESPECT TO AGREEMENTS. THE FMC PRESENTLY IS
UNDERGOIN A COMPREHENSIVE INQUIRY TARGETED AT REDUCING FILING
REQUIREMENTS WHERE ADAQUATE ALTERNATIVES EXIST. IT IS EXPECTED THAT
THIS INQUIRY WILL BE COMPLETED WITHIN THE NEXT YEAR. THEREFORE,
THIS COLLECTION IS APPROVE FOR USE BY THE COMMISSION THROUGH
FEBRUARY 1, 1985 UNDER OMB CONTROL NUMBER 3072-0009. AT THAT TIME,
A CLEARER EVALUATION CAN BE MADE IN THE LIGHT OF THE INQUIRY'S
CONCLUSION.

FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC OFFSHORE COMMERCE MUST FILE SEMIANNUAL
SELF-POLICING REPORTS. THE INFORMATION PROVIDED UNDER GENERAL ORDER
7 ALLOWS THE COMMISSION TO EFFECTIVELY EVALUATE THE ADEQUACY OF THE
POLICING SYSTEM EMPLOYED BY THE PARTIES TO AN AGREEMENT.
